  1. It must be exciting to be an actor on the poster for an upcoming Malick flick, because then you can be pretty confident you’re actually in the finished film.

  2. > Based on real events, A HIDDEN LIFE is the story of an unsung hero, Franz Jägerstätter, who refused to fight for the Nazis in World War II. When the Austrian peasant farmer is faced with the threat of execution for treason, it is his unwavering faith and his love for his wife Fanni and children that keeps his spirit alive.

  3. I first read: ”the man who refused to fight the Nazi’s”, I had to laugh really hard. ”Such a brave man”, I thought sarcastically. Then I reread the title and now I feel stupid.

  4. You just know this is one of those movies that is either going to be absolutely amazing or completely dismal

    edit: to be

  5. Terrence Malick’s films usually have 3-5 editors per film, which is almost unheard of. It’s astounding how long it takes for them to find the right visually poetry Terrence wants, but it pays off in spades with finest pieces of cinema I’ve ever scene.

  6. I absoutely love Terrence Malick, but I feel like he’s oversaturating himself now. I haven’t liked any of his films since “The Tree of Life”

  7. For some reason, I’m sure this film will trigger a vocal minority of American Redditors.

edit – found a couple of ’em.

  8. Who keeps giving this guy money to make movies? Three and a half hours of earth porn shots and no discernable plot in sight. Seriously, I’ve seen The Thin Red Line a few times now, and while I can recall some things that happen, I couldn’t tell you what it was “about” if you put a gun to my head.

  9. Fuck this guy and this overreaching, underachieving career. What a waste of finances and talent.
