  1. Personally can’t wait. Even talked my girlfriend into watching No Direction Home this weekend to get my Dylan fix.

  2. I fell in love with Dylan’s music about 18 years ago.
I had never heard anything like it. The idea that the lyrics can take precedence over the tune or rhythm was something completely new to me at the time.
For over a decade, Dylan remained my perfect ideal of what a “songwriter” should be. He’s the reason I learned guitar back in highschool.
Then I heard Neutral Milk Hotel, and the idea of the same fever-dream lyrics reminded me of late 60’s Dylan. That lead to me listening to Bright Eyes. Conner Oberst wrote songs that were so intensely personal, so incredibly relatable, that he pushed early Dylan from the pedestal, forcing him to share.
In my life, I have known 3 songwriters/musicians that I admire deeply, performers that can move me to tears, Dylan, Mangum, and Oberst. Most people only get one or two.
I can’t wait to see this film 🙂

(Edit: If anyone wants song recommendations for Bright Eyes or NMH, I would be happy to help)

  3. I’m so glad Martin Scorsese has put this together, and to have Bob Dylan interviewing on it is something so special. You know he wouldn’t have trusted anyone else to make this film.

  4. Coincidentally listening to Mr. Tambourine Man as this came out(albeit a bit conflicted on which version I like better, the original Dylan version or the cover from The Helio sequence). But besides having listened to some popular Dylan tunes I have not delved into his music yet or given any of his albums a chance(dumb comparison but my reasoning is that I prefer Cohen and I am working my way through his work atm). Known about this Scorsese film for a while but I am not sure if I can go in “blind” or if its important to listen to some Dylan first, in that case, which one(s) should I delve into?

  5. Is this from the tour on the Hard Rain album with that absolutely killer version of Shelter From The Storm? If it is I’m stoked, if it’s not I’m also stoked.

  6. I wish they’d make a complete life retrospective documentary about Dylan similar to the Eagles Documentary, but I doubt he’d ever allow it.
