  1. > “I want to make a film that will get kids excited about the Olympics. The type of world we want to see at the end of all this competition, even beyond the Olympics, will be a major theme,” said Studio Ponoc founder and producer Yoshiaki Nishimura at a press conference at the festival.

    > The anime short, commissioned by the International Olympic Committee and due to be completed by spring 2020, will be the first for an Olympics. It is scheduled to debut at Tokyo 2020, before being screened elsewhere, including future Olympic host cities.

  2. I know NHK have been doing some crossovers between existing animes and paralympic sports and making some short clips out of it which have been pretty fun. This could be interesting too.

  3. [After the amazing Gorillaz style short](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Yr5ZWYRaAyw) that was made for the Beijing Olympics I’ve got high hopes for one done in the Ghibli style.

  4. Wow. Japan is already aiming to hit us right in the feels with a beautiful animated short? Yes please!

  5. Is this from the same studio who made the god awful Mary and the witches flower? They ripped off animation style from studio Ghibli but none of the good story telling, they are a fraud studio. If the IOC wanted a video they should’ve ordered one from Ghibli not from the equivalent of a Chinese ripoff studio.

Ponoc will literally always be known as the the studio founded by ex studio Ghibli employees, lol.
